Russia: a passenger penalized because of his cat too heavy

The Russian airline Aeroflot on Tuesday withdrew all its points of loyalty to a passenger who had cheated on the weight of his cat, too heavy to travel in the cabin, substituting another animal at check-in.

Mikhail Galine told Facebook last week how his cat Victor was considered too heavy to be accepted in the cabin during a stopover in Moscow, on a flight from Latvia to Vladivostok.

"At weighing, the animal was over 10 kg, an unauthorized weight in the cabin" where the limit on Aeroflot is 8 kg, explained the young man.

Unable to leave his cat in the hold, Mikhail Galine postponed his departure from Moscow and began looking for a "similar cat, but lighter."

The next day, he returned to the airport with "the cat, the cat's double and his owners". He was able to register in business class with his cat through this substitution during registration.

On Facebook, the young man posted a picture of his big cat, comfortably on the plane with a glass of champagne at his side.

But Aeroflot did not appreciate the stratagem of the young man and, image of CCTV in support, proved that the cat Victor had been replaced during the recording "by a similar animal weighing 7 kg".

As a result, "Aeroflot made the decision to remove this passenger from its loyalty program. All the miles he has collected will be canceled.

According to his accounts on social networks, Mikhail Galine is a great traveler and Russian media claim that he had 400,000 miles, the equivalent of several thousand euros of flights.
